The single player campaign is really fun in Gears 3. Not giving spoilers, but Epic Games really does bring a satisfying end to the Gears Of War Trilogy, and I am really happy about it.
The story it self is the best of the trilogy. Each character is fleshed out very nicely, and the dialog is very top notch.
The gameplay has been even more refined from the previous Gears 1 and 2 to a polish finish. The control is very tight and responsive. The new weapons add allot of fun to the Gears trilogy.
What is so amazing about Gears 3 is the shear amount of content Epic has stuffed into a single DVD disc.
Not only do you have a lengthy single player campaign, there is also 4 player co-op through out the entire campaign. There is also arcade mode in which you and your friends can play through the entire campaign for the highest score.
Horde mode returns in Gears 3 but as Horde 2.0 which adds tower defense leveling up gameplay. Horde mode was fun in Gears 2 but is a real blast in Gears 3 now with 5 player capacity.
Beast Mode is new in Gears 3. It's like Horde, but the game puts the players in the Horde shoes taking down the humans. There is real strategy to playing Beast Mode. Each player has to work as a team to get past the human defense to win each round.
Versus mode has also been improved with the typical team death match, to new game modes such as capture the leader.
What brings all this online content together is the new dedicated servers! Yes, dedicated servers has finally been added to Gears 3. The online game plays well for everyone with dedicated servers unlike the previous Gears game in which the match is decided by the host and who has a faster internet connection. It is also easier for Epic to keep tabs on the games and who cheats/gliches in the game making it more fare for everyone.
Gears Of War 3 was supposed to come out in the spring of 2011, but Epic pushed date to September 20, and it shows the amount of polish they put during the delay and it shows for the best.
